Don Amero --- This hard working musician was nominated Entertainer of the Year and Acoustic Album of the Year at the 2009 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards (APCMAs), and won Male Artist of the Year at the 2009 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, and Aboriginal Songwriter of the Year at the 2009 Canadian Folk Music Awards. He was nominated for three more awards at the 2010 APCMAs, at the same time his new album The Long Way Home was released. Janice Finlay --- Janice Finlay knows jazz. Her saxophone artistry is frequently heard at Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra “pops” concerts, and she's a long-time member of the Ron Paley Big Band. As band leader, she directs The Swing Cats, The Janice Finlay Jazz Quartet, Janice Finlay's Hardbop Herd, and others. She's a jazz educator, an adjudicator, and award winner. She was named Winnipeg’s “Top Sax” for three years running. She has backed touring acts like Mel Tormé, Wayne Newton, The Temptations, and Kenny Rogers. She has opened for Bob Newhart. And now, she's putting out her second album in 10 years. Anywhere But Here is being released November 24. Winnipeg Rowing Club (WRC) --- When she's not working, RoseAnna spends time training at the Winnipeg Rowing Club, and volunteering as their publicist. At 130 years old, the WRC is one of the oldest sporting organizations in Western Canada, in operation since 1881. Over the years the clubhouse has been destroyed by fire, wind, and water, but has always managed to maintain its long and proud tradition.
