bio for roseanna schick

RAS Creative was founded in 1995 by RoseAnna Schick, a communications specialist, entertainment publicist, published writer, project manager, professional speaker, logistics coordinator, manager, consultant, facilitator, entrepreneur, and all around multi-tasker who knows how to get things done. And thrives on the challenge!

RoseAnna has personally acquired 17 years experience on more than 60 film and television productions, over 50 special events and creative projects, and with dozens of musicians. She likes to think ‘outside the box’ while staying ‘hands on’ with every undertaking. She has a knack for overseeing the biggest of pictures, while keeping an eye on the smallest of details.

A frequent freelance writer, RoseAnna's work has been published in dozens of magazines and newspapers. She is regularly called upon to write bios, press kits, profiles, website content, video scripts, and other materials. RoseAnna was proud to win the 2011 Women of Distinction Awards for her work in Public Awareness and Communications, and was nominated in 2007 for the Manitoba Women Entrepreneurs of the Year Awards. Other nominations include Outstanding Manager of the year at the 2001 Prairie Music Awards for working with Winnipeg rock band Pushing Daisies, and three Best Music Video nods for producing Pushing Daisies' debut video Disagree.

Active in her communities, RoseAnna’s involvement included a two-year term as Executive Director of the Manitoba Motion Picture Industry Association (now known as On Screen Manitoba), where she was responsible for overseeing Manitoba’s film and television industry. She spent three years on the Board of Directors for the Manitoba Audio Recording Industry Association (now known as Manitoba Music), during which time she co-lead the association in an entire board redevelopment process, and was a founding member of the Prairie Music Alliance (now known as the Western Canadian Music Alliance).

RoseAnna’s unique experiences and expertise have allowed her to become an accomplished speaker, and she is called upon often to create and deliver workshops, make presentations, moderate panels and inspire students. She is passionate about life-long learning, and signs up for sessions, classes and courses to continue her own pursuit of professional and personal development, while staying up-to-date on ever-changing trends and practices.

While studying Creative Communications at Red River College, RoseAnna was elected Vice President Student Affairs, and participated on several college committees and advisory groups. At her graduation in 1995, she was presented (to her surprise!) with the prestigious Lieutenant-Governor’s Medal, awarded for academic excellence and exceptional community contribution. She completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Winnipeg in 1992, where she was an avid member of the U of W Outdoor Club. Today, RoseAnna gives back by sitting on Red River's Creative Communications Advisory Committee, and by mentoring students.

The most bizarre job on RoseAnna’s resume is that of participant in the ‘living history’ television series Quest for the Bay. The trip required her to row an 1840’s York boat from downtown Winnipeg to York Factory on the Hudson Bay. RoseAnna - the only woman on the eight-person team - embraced the challenge, and along with teammates she successfully completed the 1200-kilometer journey over nine weeks during the summer of 2001. This incredible experience changed her outlook, her attitude, and her entire life, and she enjoys sharing the many stories through presentations for groups of all sizes.

Nowadays, when she isn't busy working on her next big thing, you’ll find RoseAnna rowing much smaller boats at the Winnipeg Rowing Club, improving her delivery at curling, learning to play hockey, trying to break 100 on any given golf course, or out roaming somewhere in the Canadian wilderness… the more remote the better…

"RoseAnna's experience, knowledge and creativity have been integral to the success of our Conferences. She skillfully directs our publicity as well as the media, and it's a pleasure to work with her year after year!"
